Solution at a Glance

The first video processing solution to combine highest quality video compression for MPEG-2, H.264 and multi-screen, the ICE Video Platform is the clear leader for Every Screen video processing and distribution.

Customer’s Challenges

Video subscribers and consumers are demanding more control over a larger number of video programming choices, on a wider array of devices, over an expanding number of distribution networks. Video service providers (our customers) need to meet this demand with an video processing infrastructure that provides the quality and fidelity demanded by their customers, combined with the density, flexibility and scalability demanded by their operations centers.

Our Offering

The ICE Video Platform supports two primary product lines; the ICE Broadcast System and the ICE Streaming System.

The ICE® Broadcast System was the first video processing solution to combine the digital and IP networked interfaces of statistical multiplexers with the video quality and compression efficiency of high end encoding platforms. Since launching in late 2007 as cable’s first 3:1 HD (3 HD channels in a 6MHz QAM channel) solution, the ICE Broadcast System has been deployed in front of over 50% of all US digital cable households. The ICE Broadcast System continues to advance the key product attributes of leading video quality and IP network connectivity and remains the clear leader for digital and IP video processing and distribution.

The ICE Streaming System (ISS) product line extends the ICE Video Platform to provide best-in-class solutions for multi-screen video transcoding plus internet and mobile video streaming. Through advanced quality monitoring, feature detection and spatial-temporal structure detection, the ICE Streaming System uniquely transcodes up to 1000 output profiles from a single blade-system platform. Further, the ICE distributed architecture enables an unlimited number of output profiles for any source stream with guaranteed alignment.

Unique Differentiators

Leading Video Quality. The ICE Video Platform has been systematically tested by the most rigorous video quality professionals and the most discerning video subscribers and continues to come out on top as the leading solution for HD and SD video quality.

One platform does it all. The ICE Video Platform is one unified system for a wide array of advanced video processing applications. Statistical multiplexing and rate-clamping, multi-codec transcoding, real-time and off-line file processing, multi rate, multi-resolution and multi-screen stream adaptation, IP aggregation, 3D stream synchronization and processing and other software applications can all be loaded on to the same unified hardware infrastructure.

Operational efficiency. Whether its stream-count density, QAM density, IP cabling, rack-space and power savings, hot-swap

system components, or all of the above, the ICE Video Platform provides a unique set of advantages across the board and positions our customers for success with the industry’s best solution for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Business Benefits for the Customers

More capacity. The ICE Video Platform solutions enable up to 50% more streams over the existing network. This benefit can be used to add or expand new revenue generating services, or to reduce core and edge network expenditures associated with each individual service.

Happier customers, lower retention costs. By improving per-program video quality and service reliability, video service providers are able to reducing churn and quality related truck-roll costs

Efficient operations. The ICE Video Platform solutions dramatically reduce the rack-space and power requirements required to provide multi-screen video services. And the integrated blade system platform cuts labor, materials and core router port utilization costs by up to 97%
