Waze is a social mobile application that enables drivers to build and use real-time road intelligence. The service includes constantly-updated road maps, alerts on traffic and accidents, and data providing users with the fastest route to get to wherever they need to go. Map and traffic updates are automatically collected and generated as users drive with waze activated, but drivers can also actively report and update other users with what’s happening on the road including accident alerts, police traps, weather hazards, cheap gas offers and more. And the best part? Because the map and all of its content is driver-generated, waze is completely free for users.

Wazer2 is an innovative cooperation between Waze and Israel’s top news resource, Channel 2 news. This joint venture creates an interactive communication platform between the news desk and Waze users out on the road, so that, when events happen in the field, Channel 2 can locate nearby Wazers to provide eyewitness reports, direct from the scene.
Registration is open for all Waze users via a dedicated website, and by participating in the project, users give Channel 2 access to their exact location (when the app is enabled) and telephone number, should they find themselves in the vicinity of a newsworthy event. Waze’s real-time capabilities, coupled with the power of its local driving community actually serve to extend Channel 2′s reach, ensuring that they’re the first news source, live on the scene, no matter where the news is happening.
